Today's post is brought to you from the beautiful blue shores of Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America and the second deepest (over 1600 feet) after Crater Lake in Oregon. You've also probably heard, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas received a record amount of snowfall this past winter/spring season. Yippee ... what a welcome relief after many years of drought! In the last two weeks of June, Tahoe rose more than 4 inches from the Sierra snowmelt as billions of gallons of water poured into the lake ... and it's expected to continue rising. The rivers are raging, and the wildflowers in the mountains have been well ... spectacular. My pawrents have been fortunate to explore Lake Tahoe, the gem of the Sierras, for many years. There are also many exquisite smaller lakes in the basin, amazing mountain passes, and endless hiking and biking trails. Lake Tahoe is a year round recreational paradise, a photographer's dream, and an inspiration to many. Our Earth has provided us with so many diverse and natural treasures. As I gaze upon these waters, my hope is we protect and care for these gifts, so generations of animals and people can thrive, enjoy, and of course scout these lands ... finding the peace, illumination, and healing nature so freely offers. Wishing you all a wonderful day.
